We had an absolute blast designing and running SnL’s photo booth at their (GORGEOUS) wedding this weekend. As one of the many amazing things we were able to participate in, we want to share with you here just how blessed we are for this opportunity. Take a link!
My oh my, has it been awhile! It goes without saying that we have things to catch up on.
First, however, I would like to point out that we are halfway through the week before the wedding, and it couldn’t be going any better! This couple is one of the most dynamic I’ve come across in life. Without their vision and unity as a team this whole production wouldn’t be the same. It has been a blessing to have worked with them…and we haven’t even made it to the weekend!! Stupac and Linda (nicknames) have lovingly thought out a weekend of R&R for their loved ones, and have really set the bar for weekend weddings. Just. You. Wait.
This is a little behind-the-scenes peek at what we’ve been up to, we gathered a few friends to score and fold favors, and might I say we owned! I love bridesmaids and groomsman that ban together the weeks before, while simultaneously representing the “party” in Bridal Party! Thats love right there.
I’m off to run errands, thanks for your patience, and your enthusiasm.
Sitting here giggling because we still haven’t broken 100 as far as Facebook friends are concerned! That 99 is just sitting there, so patiently! 😉 Maybe this weekend we’ll be able to convince that last friend to “Like” our page…. just maybe….. 😉
On rainy days like this its always a good idea to look to the beautiful, green, lush days ahead. All the wet and grey will one day lift, leaving us with something beautiful. Spring.
This may be a little early but my sights are already set on the pretty posies and sunny afternoons of springtime. Naturally, this daydream wouldn’t be complete without a litte garden-party-pretty; so here it is!
The garden party theme is one that has been around since the beginning of beautiful weddings…and for a reason! Depending on where you live, the colors and flowers you choose, and when you’re throwing your affair, the outcome can be completely yours!
Its a theme that is founded on your florals and textiles, so start there. If you base your invitations, colors, and patterns off of your favorite garden rose, you won’t have to look further than your own backyard for inspiration! Next decide if you’re inviting guests to a formal high tea, or a humble backyard afternoon affair. Stick to the classics with your sweets and drinks, using them to compliment your color palette (while pleasing your guest’s palettes 🙂 Once you’ve decided where you’re coming from, it won’t be hard to figure out exactly where the rest should go!
Whether you’re dreaming of sunnier days like us, or are thinking forward to your springtime events, look to nature for your inspiration, and let the pretty speak for itself!
This real wedding comes to us with sunshine on its heels! Lets take a minute to remember how gorgeous this summer was in the NW, and share in the joy of this awesome couple’s perfect day!
Joel & Ray’s gorgeous wedding was full of love, family, good food and happy times. Joel would like to give a word of thanks: “First to my loving mother. She cooked and prepped everything for our traditional luau. To my stepdad and his friends for cooking in the hot sun. To all my loving friends and family who dedicated a whole day to witness our union, helping with setup and clean up, you guys are rockstars, you know who you are! Especially to my childhood best friend Emerald, who flew from Hawai’i, with her 3 month old baby girl, Kailea. And lastly, to my Husband — who put up with all my tantrums, you kept me sane! I love you all!”
The most personal and touching moments of their day included the special traditions they observed, both in the ceremony and reception. Joel’s favorites were the Hawaiian wedding dance to Keali’i Reichel, E pili mai, “…a gift to my husband”, and the exchanging of lei’s during their vow’s… “A representation of our promises to each other”.
Joel’s special day included many details she made herself, from chalk-board label mason jars, to “Bride & Groom” signs for the back of their chairs. Her favorite DIY projects (which are just to die for!) included her Antique Brooch Bouquet, and “Make Your Own Smore’s” Bar. The decor was simple, summery, and very Joel & Ray.
The highlight of the day? “Trashing my wedding dress by jumping in the Lewis-ville river.” And one can hardly call it “trashing” the dress, doesn’t she look just stunning? Jumping in the river at the end of the day was such a special moment for the happy newly weds…Something they will never forget.
When we asked Joel if she had any advice for Brides-to-Be, she said: “Planning a wedding is the most monumental thing in every woman’s life, so it’s difficult to not let things go, be sure to compromise and agree to disagree. Live in every moment. Remember to eat on your wedding day and try not to stress over every minor detail. Laugh and enjoy the ride.”

One winter trend we want to share with you lovelies is the color-love-story between jewel tones and pastels. To DIE FOR. With such an infinite number of possible combinations, you simply can’t go wrong! We’re particularly loving this idea with florals and table scapes. Here are some pretty pictures below to show you what we mean!
This trend is amazing for the winter time because of its unexpected brightness, glamourous tones, and amazing contrast with the natural palette of white winters. It can be used in any intensity, saturation, and event.
We’re even applying this idea to our gift-wrap, holiday party wear, and table scapes this winter! Think Christmas Tree Green, Velvet Plum, Cranberry Red, Glitter Gold & Ballet Slipper Pink! On that note — We here at Alder + Gold want to wish every single one of you the best things in life this Christmas….and the blessing of sharing those with the ones you love!
Now go hang-out with your families and find a way to utilize these luscious colors in your holiday adventures!
Alder + Gold
Found this little gem whilst searching through old emails to myself for a to-do list…really glad I did 😉
This is one of many many thank-you notes the ever talented Leah Dieterich has shared on her blog thxthxthx. I obviously sent this one to myself for a reason, maybe for the very time and place which is today. You see, Alder + Gold is a personal project that has been in my head and heart and random bar napkins shamelessly shoved in my purse for quite some time now. Its encouraging, that in its place and time, it has begun to take shape and form here…and that YOU are sharing in my little project, my little window.
Its funny how those special projects or ideas or inspirations, while more a part of us than other things we spend time doing, are the ones that go un-shared. Its actually feels amazing to be brave with my vision and give little pieces of it away, seeing it blossom and transform… (despite getting dusty on the shelves or set aside by life sometimes). Like Leah, today I am thankful for this project, for Alder + Gold, and for YOU listening and sharing.
Anyway, on the heels of thanksgiving, and finding this note (and MANY other great ones! Check her out 😉 I encourage you to take a second and find something sitting right in front of you to be thankful for, something to find purpose and a tiny bit of joy or peace in. You won’t regret it!
You’ve decided which lucky ladies in your life you’d like to share in every moment of the crazy, beautiful, and special journey ahead. Each chosen for their unique friendship and role in your life, each for her distinct style, taste, and personality. That is why you’re eating up the Mixed & Matched trend just as much as we are! We are in awe at how creative and classy brides are getting with their girls these days. From different dresses in the same color, to different colors in the same silhouette, we love them all! Now, this is only the first of many posts to come about mix&match bridesmaids, as we here at Alder + Gold are….obsessed. To say the least. I figured the best way to begin sharing this obsession with you is to share our Bridesmaids Board on Pinterest! Well, and a few gems right here too.
Whats YOUR favorite trend for bridesmaids? Share your finds with us too! (We love drooling over other peoples pretty ideas just as much as you do;)
How better to ask your amazing girls to take part in your wedding than with a gift, and invitation, truly unique to them?
Watch this next week for our “Bridesmaid’s Invite DIY” for ideas and tips for making invitations as unique as your gals (and the dresses they are already eyeing now you’ve said “yes!” to the man of your dreams 🙂 This trend highlights an easy way to show just how special each bridesmaid is to you, while simultaneously showing off your own personal taste, and even the aesthetic of your big day yet to come!
